Google新翻译技术: 实际效果有限

Google在中文，俄文, 阿拉伯文以及英文的双向翻译系统中采用了新的翻译技术: 统计学机器翻译.

什么是”统计学机器翻译(statistical machine translation)”, 看下面的一段解释:

the translation of text from one human language to another by a computer that learned how to translate from vast amounts of translated text.

简单的说, 机器首先对过去大量的译文进行学习和对比, 然后再进行实际的翻译.

那么实际效果如何呢, 下面我们来看一段英译中:

英文:
Sorry, because you still haven’t updated your credit card information, your order from Google Apps has been cancelled. If you’d like to place another order, you must review and update your credit card information in your Google Account first.

中文(通过google language_tools翻译后):

对不起, 因为你还没有更新你的信用卡资料, 您谷歌采购订单已取消. 如果你想为另一地点, 你必须检讨并更新你的信用卡帐户资料在您谷歌首.

从上面我们可以看到翻译结果不够理想, 准确的翻译是:

对不起, 因为你还没有更新你的信用卡资料, 您的Google Apps定单已经取消. 如果你想订阅其它的服务, 首先您需要检查和更新您Google帐户中的信用卡资料.
